Wastewater Treatment Operator. Reporting to the Wastewater Department Manager, the successful candidate provides technical
skills in order to problem solve and provide support to various departments. Your qualifications and assets will be utilized to
ensure all machinery is running efficiently to meet target goals.
 Monitor plant operations and make necessary adjustments as required to maintain efficiency.
 Conduct regular inspections of all equipment including pumps, blowers, motors, conveyors, and filters, to ensure
proper functioning.
 Perform necessary testing on wastewater, sludge, and cake, and analyze results to assess treatment performance.
 Adjust valves, pumps, and chemical dosages as needed.
 Optimize chemical usage to achieve optimal treatment results.
 Update plant logs with operation records, changes, concerns, and chemical inventory.
 Clean and maintain equipment, tanks, filters, and work areas.
 Ensure compliance with safety standards and company policies, including OHSA regulations.
 Monitor instruments to detect equipment malfunctions and ensure systems are operating within prescribed limits.
 Read and interpret data from flow meters, gauges, and effluent quality testing to identify necessary changes and
improvements.
 Follow directions from the Manager and perform other duties as assigned.
PROFILE:
 Educational background in Environmental Studies, Mathematics, or Biological Science is considered an asset.
 Flexible work schedule to work 12 hour continental shift rotation and open to on-call shifts, including overtime.
 Must be able to meet minimum dexterity requirements of this position: bending, twisting, reaching, lifting, crouching,
kneeling, standing, walking, sitting, etc.
 Demonstrate punctuality, reliability and willingness to learn in a team based environment.
 Demonstrate ability to prioritize tasks, manage time and communicate effectively.
 This position is suggested to be a medium to heavy lifting capability role: approx. 5-25kg (11-55lbs).
 Strong organizational skills, data/record keeping, reporting, and some basic mathematical skills.
 Demonstrate a positive attitude, cooperation, and teamwork at all times, including cross-training others.
